Chapter One Plot Summary

This chapter, we saw tensions over border begin to boil over, likely due to the sudden changes in leadership. In a desperate attempt to put relations back to neutral, both clans extended a formal invitation to participate in one another's tradition. BoarClan's night of Spars offered a good opportunity to release some steam and fight one another in a civil manner. WillowClan's night of stories, however, ended quite suddenly when Lupineleer, a BoarClan elder, and the oldest cat at the lake for that matter, told a story of a mysterious clan of cats who he met in his kithood. Whilst many believed this to be the ramblings of an old tom, it strangely enough seemed to put the high ranks of either clan on edge; most notably, Walnutcloud, the deputy of WillowClan.



No one was aware at how much Lupineleer had aggravated the deputy, however, until the last gathering of the Leafbare season.



The gathering was off to a poor start already, when newly elected Cariboustar and Shalestar had a not-so-subtle exchange of whispers, their body language and expressions conveying anxiousness, but about what, no one could hear.



But suddenly, the smell of blood curled and crept around everyone's noses. A rustling from the lake island shoreline broke the sudden silence that fell over the two clans, and suddenly, Walnutcloud emerged with the mangled body of Lupineleer. He insisted he was told to commit this heinous crime by an unseen entity; no one even now is sure what.



BoarClan immediately called for a trial, demanding justice for their beloved elder. As BoarClan's code states, "blood must answer for blood."

WillowClan knew this would mean they'd have to give their deputy's life to answer for the loss of Lupineleers. They argued, demanding a moment with their deputy to get to the bottom of this. During this commotion, the deputy managed to slip away and evade capture...

Now, the clans live with more tension than ever before, with talk of raids among both. It is likely the order will need to be consulted with.



Meanwhile, curiosity grows over the forbidden territory of Banewood. Apprentices inch into the lands a little bit further each day, wondering what secrets the forest holds.
